article imageUK to provide Syrian rebels with chemical protection gear

By Paul Iddon     Jul 16, 2013 in Politics
The United Kingdom has announced that it will provide the Syrian rebels fighting against the Syrian government protective gear to protect them from biological and chemical weapons.
Daily Star Lebanon and The Telegraph report that this gear will enable them to survive a potential sarin gas attack.
British Foreign Secretary William Hague said his country will deliver 5,000 nerve-agent treatment tables and chemical weapons detector paper to the Syrian National Coalition in and around August 3.
He said that, "There is evidence of attacks using chemical weapons in Syria — including sarin. We believe that the use of chemical weapons is sanctioned and ordered by the Assad regime."
The Assad regime has vehemently denied allegations that it has used chemical weapons, even on a limited basis, in its fight against the ragtag rebel opposition.
