article imageCFL Scores: Burris leads Hamilton past Blue Bombers 25-20

By Larry Seely     Jul 13, 2013 in Sports
Guelph - Hamilton quarterback Henry Burris promised a better performance after last weeks loss and the veteran signal caller delivered with his best outing of the 2013 CFL season in leading the Tiger-Cats to a 25-20 victory over Winnipeg.
Burris completed 26-32 passes for 362 yards and two touchdowns, but the 38 year-old showed he can still get things done with his legs as he led the team in rushing with 47 yards.
Winnipeg entered the contest with one of the best defenses in the CFL, but the Bombers lack of a passing attack hurt their cause as the team dropped to 1-2 on the year. Quarterback Buck Pierce went 15-26 for just 185 yards, not a strong effort against a Hamilton team that was allowing nearly 35 points per game.
The Tiger-Cats won for the first time this season, improving to 1-2 on the year and the team will look to build on that momentum when they hit the road to face the high octane offense of the Saskatchewan next Sunday night, the first of back-to-back contests against the Roughriders.
Blue Bombers fans can look forward to facing Toronto the next two weeks, games that are winnable if the offense can get back on track and the defense plays to the same level they did in the first two weeks of the CFL season.
