article imagePGA Tour Scores: Summerhays leads shootout at John Deere Classic

By Larry Seely     Jul 13, 2013 in Sports
Daniel Summerhays has taken the lead at the John Deere Classic after shooting a career low round of 62. The leader vaulted past several players and has a two stroke lead at -19.
Summerhays started play in the third round just two shots off the lead, but with 10 birdies and just one bogey, the 29 year-old has a good shot at winning his first career PGA Tour event.
Patrick Reed was the overnight leader, but the 23 year-old youngster struggled with four bogeys on the day and dropped back into a tie for ninth, despite shooting 70 on the day.
Canadian golfer David Hearn is currently in second place after shooting 64 in his third round. The veteran golfer has just three bogeys all week and is looking for his first top-5 finish of the 2013 PGA Tour season.
Eight golfers will enter the final round within five shots of the lead, including Zach Johnson who is sitting in third, just three shots back. Johnson has played solid golf this week at the TPC Deere Run with scores of 64, 66, and 67, but with low scores expected again in the final round, players will need to go low or risk dropping quickly down the leader board.
