article imageBrett Lawrie back with Blue Jays, to play in Baltimore Saturday

By Marcus Hondro     Jul 13, 2013 in Sports
The Toronto Blue Jays say they have brought third baseman Brett Lawrie back up to the big club. He is with the team in Baltimore and will play, they say, in today's game.
The fiery Canadian has been rehabbing his injured left ankle since the end of May; he hurt it sliding into second in a 9-3 win over Atlanta. Lawrie was having a sup-bar season before the injury, batting just .209 with 5 HRs and 14 RBI.
As part of his rehab the 23-year-old played briefly with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in double A ball and the Buffalo Bisons in triple A ball. He played some games at second base but the Jays have not said where he'll play now that he's back up with the parent club.
