article imageCFL Scores: Stampeders wrangle Alouettes 22-14

By Larry Seely     Jul 13, 2013 in Sports
Montreal - Montreal was looking to bounce back from a sounding defeat to Winnipeg last weekend, but the Alouettes offense struggled again and the team went down at home to Calgary 22-14 in CFL action on Friday night.
The Stampeders were led by backup quarterback Kevin Glenn who went 22-28 on the evening for 258 yards and a touchdown. Jon Cornish supplied the rushing attack needed for Calgary as the veteran running back gained 90 yards on 18 carries.
Montreal gained just 161 yards in last weeks loss, but week three didn't prove too much better as the Alouettes managed just over 250 yards and one touchdown.
Veteran signal caller Anthony Calvillo went 22-36 for 205 yards and a score, but the ground game for Montreal was again a no-show as the team managed just 53 yards on 12 carries.
Calgary kicker Rene Paredes was the big difference in the game as the third-year kicker made five field goals, including two from 39 yards out.
The Stampeders defense was terrific on the night as they didn't allow Montreal pass mid-field on any drive over the final three quarters of play. Calgary improved to 2-1 on the year and Montreal dropped to 1-2. These two teams play again next Saturday night in Calgary with Montreal needing a big win to stay in the race for a spot in the CFL Playoffs.
