A Turkish man has been trying to quit smoking for years, but time after time he has failed. Now he has created a helmet-like contraption that may be able to help him finally quit smoking.
Ever since the second year of high school Ibrahim Yucel has been trying to quit smoking. His father was also a smoker and passed away due to lung cancer, but that did not stop Yucel from smoking two packs of cigarettes a day, he told the Hurriyet Daily News.
Yucel has been married for 16 years and his wife says that there are numerous times where Yucel will claim that he is going to quit his smoking habits. But after just two to three days, though, he would be back at it again.
Now at the age of 42, Yucel designed a cage helmet that functions as a barrier between his mouth and a cigarette. Yucel says he was inspired by a motorcycle helmet and purchased 40 meters of copper wire to construct his helmet.
The cage helmet has two locks. Everyday Yucel would put on the helmet before going to work and hand one key to his wife and the other one to his daughter. Yucel is able to see, breathe, eat crackers, and take sips of water through the wire.
