The perfect husband: Comments woman after 'marrying' bridge

By Mark Harradine     Jul 9, 2013 in Odd News
Over the years there have been cases of people getting married to some weird and wonderful things. It’s not uncommon to find a devoted owner marrying a pet, but this recent case will raise more than few eyebrows.
Jodi Rose, from Australia, has married a bridge. Apparently the Australian artist fell in love with the 600-year-old Le Pont du Diable (the Devil’s Bridge) in France, in fact she liked the bridge so much she has married it.
Even though France doesn’t recognise marriages between people and bridges, the ceremony took place last month and 14 guests attended, reports Metro UK. The happy couple “tied the knot” and even the major of the nearby town came along to the ceremony and even blessed the happy couple. The bride wore a white wedding dress and she even made a special, one-metre high, ring to wrap around her groom, the bridge. “Although it’s made of stone I feel at peace in his strong embrace,” commented Rose after the wedding on her blog Bridgeland. When asked why she had decided to marry the bridge Rose commented that the bridge was “the perfect husband, strong and silent.” She added that it was love at first sight and that the bridge made her feel comfortable. Presumably the newlyweds will not be going on honeymoon!
