article image'Bigfoot' claim disputed by genetics

By Tim Sandle     Jul 6, 2013 in Odd News
Supposed samples that related to 'Bigfoot' have turned out to be a hoax and are actually a mix of opossum and other known species, according to a new analysis.
A Texas-based company, DNA Diagnostics, published genetic sequence data from what they claimed was a sample from Bigfoot (otherwise known as the Sasquatch). The information was made public in early 2013.
However, the original samples have since been analyzed by independent geneticists, according to the Houston Chronicle. The results reveal that the samples were either a hoax or they had become very mixed up for the DNA is in fact a mix of opossum and other species, and not a new primate species.
Bigfoot is the name given to an ape-like creature that some people believe inhabits forests, mainly in the Pacific Northwest region of North America. Bigfoot is usually described as a large, hairy, bipedal humanoid.
Whether Bigfoot exists, or ever existed, remains unproven. Certainly the latest attempt to prove the creatures existence has failed.
