Maiduguri - Saturday Islamic militants attacked a boarding school in Potiskum, Nigeria. The militants managed to kill 29 students and one teacher. Survivors are stating that some people were burned alive in this latest school attack.
Parents were distraught when trying to identify the charred and gunshot innocent victims Saturday.
Malam Abdullahi identified his two sons, a 10-year-old and a 12-year-old, who were both shot to death.
Malam Abdullahi told The Associated Press, “That’s It, I’m taking my other boys out of school.”
Abdullahi has three younger children who attend a school nearby where his two oldest sons got shot.
Survivors were taken to the Potiskum General Hospital. Its mortuary said the gunmen also attacked the Government Secondary School, which happens to be about three miles from the school they attacked in Potiskum. There are rumors going on that the gunmen are from the Boko Haram sect.
Musa Hassan, a 15-year-old student stated:
"We were sleeping when we heard gunshots. When I woke up, someone was pointing a gun at me."
Hassan put his arm up to defend himself, but suffered a gunshot that blew off his fingers on his right hand.
He also said he saw the gunmen carrying jerry cans filled with fuel that was used to torch the school.
