Teen mauled by a lion she was kissing

By Owen Weldon     Jul 5, 2013 in World
On Monday a teenager was dragged into the cage of a lion, who proceeded to maul her. The incident occurred after she tried to kiss it.
According to Metro, the teen, Lauren Fagen, 18, survived the mauling. She said that the lion, named Duma, dragged her into his cage after she was kissing his fur.
She said from out of nowhere Duma reached through the bars of his cage and managed to grab her legs and then started to maul her.
According to Sky, the incident took place at the Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, where Fagen volunteered to clean the lion cages and feed the other animals there.
She said that she didn't think that the lion would be able to get his paws through the cage.
According to Globe And Mail, the founder of the centre blamed Fagen for the incident, saying that volunteers are always warned about the risks involved with working around the animals.
Fagen said that she shares blame for the attack, but insists that the centre should have warned people that the lions could get their paws through the fences of their cages.
