The American TV channel SyFy is developing a bit of a reputation for its original movies featuring a slew of monsters, often involving sharks. Now, SyFy is ready to introduce the latest menace to society — the Sharknado.
On Thursday, SyFy released the trailer for Sharknado, which features, as the name might imply, an actual tornado made of sharks. provided the harrowing description of the movie:
When a freak hurricane swamps Los Angeles, thousands of sharks terrorize the waterlogged populace. And when the high-speed winds form tornadoes in the desert, nature's deadliest killer rules water, land, and air.
The movie will feature Tara Reid, who made appearances in Saved By the Bell, American Pie and Scrubs, as well as John Heard, who played Macaulay Culkin's father in Home Alone.
SyFy has made several other movies involving killer sharks including Malibu Shark Attack, Jersey Shore Shark Attack and even Sharktopus (which is, yes, a combination of a shark and octopus).
Sharknado premieres on SyFy on July 11 at 9 p.m.
