article imageNHL News and Rumors: Flyers looking to add goalie Jaroslav Halak?

By Larry Seely     Jul 4, 2013 in Sports
Philadelphia - Philadelphia has already made some major changes to their roster this off-season, but one more move is possibly on the way as the Flyers look to add a starting goalie for the 2013-14 NHL season.
The latest reports from CSN Philly has the team looking at St Louis Blues backup Jaroslav Halak. The 28 year-old was replaced as the starter this past season, but still impressed in his limited action with a solid 2.14 goals against average in 16 appearances.
Halak has just one year on his current contract, giving the Flyers this season to see if he is the answer between the pipes, but with 115 career victories and a 2.41 GAA, the seven year veteran is better than anyone on the current roster and a definite upgrade at goalie, something this team desperate needs to get back as one of the elite teams in the Eastern Conference.
Reports have the Blues looking for a solid player in return and while it might hurt the depth of the front line to make this trade, Philly must address this situation before training camp or risk entering the year with little hope of making the NHL Playoffs.
The Flyers have been linked to several trade rumors over the last few weeks and it makes sense with their current situation, but this is a trade that could boost this team next season and give the fans and the franchise some optimism heading into the upcoming hockey season.
