The comments were made at a joint press conference by Obama and his host President Macky Sall of Senegal.
The lengthy press conference did not only deal with the
Edward Snowden issue but was very wide-ranging covering US-Senegalese relations, trade with Africa,
former President Mandela of South Africa's health and legacy, homosexuality and
gay rights in Senegal and several other issues.
First Lady Michelle Obama was also quite busy, visiting a school were she delivered an inspiring speech, encouraging the students and emphasizing the importance of education. She also spoke about her involvement in educational issues not only as a First Lady but as a mother herself.
