article imageMonaVie: A company built on giving back

By Alyssa Sellors     Jun 26, 2013 in Health
In May of 2013, $100,000 was raised for the MORE Project (MonaVie Operation Rescue) in San Paulo, Brazil, where they are currently providing 5,090 meals a week, 700 servings of MonaVie, and has 529 children in educational programs.
MonaVie was launched in 2005 selling “products with purpose” to support nutrition necessary for a healthy lifestyle, but the founders wanted to establish a profitable company that also gave back.
The founders of MonaVie, Dallin Larsen, Randy Larsen, and Henry Marsh, set out to create “a corporate culture in which charity was a built-in principle that governed the actions of distributors and employees alike.” Their unique community commerce business model has led to their raising and donating millions of dollars and thousands of hours to help needy families worldwide. As one of the fastest growing companies in the world, MonaVie’s goals reach far beyond profit.
MonaVie is the leader in health and wellness products using some of the rarest ingredients in the world, such as the Acai Berry from Brazil. Scientifically formulated and full of antioxidants, MonaVie combines natural ingredients and science, creating a line of products that is supported by over 60 independent scientific studies, and clinically proven to prevent free radicals in the body. Free radicals are molecules or atoms without a paired electron so they become unstable and start latching onto healthy cells. Antioxidants can prevent free radicals from doing this damage. Antioxidants are found in fruits and vegetables, and MonaVie has targeted the highest concentrations of polyphenols and flavonoids, the chemicals responsible for the color, scent, and taste of fruits and vegetables, to put into their juices and supplements. MonaVie’s juice blends are made with powerful nutrients that help the body to fight against the negative effects of free radicals, like age and stress. Every four ounces of MonaVie contains up to 13 servings of fruits and vegetables. MonaVie’s line of products expands beyond the multiple juice blends.
MonaVie also produces natural supplements packed with micro and macronutrients to help with weight management and stress. MonaVie trademarked 24 new products in 2010, earning them the 2011 Utah Genius Award.
MonaVie supports more than a healthy immune system, MonaVie also supports people in need. From the beginning, the company wanted to work with a non-profit organization to donate their time and money, and in 2005, the MORE Project was established by Sergio Ponce. Started in Brazil, the MORE Project provides meals, job training, dental care, housing, and overall support for needy families of Brazil. With the goal of giving people the tools, support, and resources to support themselves, the MORE Project embodies the goals and foundation of the company as it was first established in 2005.
In addition to offering aid to communities of Brazil, the MORE Project has extended its works in both Thailand and India. Beginning with a partnership with Puttakeset Khun-Tuam School in Thailand in 2012, the MORE Project sought to provide funding to educate and provide scholarships for children. Other than education, this school also provides food, shelter, and basic agriculture skills for over 100 children. In India, the MORE Project has a partnership with Rising Star, a non-profit organization whose goal is to eliminate leprosy in India and offering education for the children of families affected by leprosy. Just as in Brazil and Thailand, the MORE Project goes beyond education, providing medical care and monetary support to get people back on their feet and into careers and society. The goal is the same: teach self-sustaining principles to improve communities from the inside out.
