article imageTwo McDonalds in the U.S. to stop serving halal food

Dearborn - The only two McDonald's in America doing so, have stopped serving food prepared according to Islamic law after settling a lawsuit that alleged the items were not consistently halal.
According to CTV, McDonald's released a statement on Monday, saying that the two locations, both located in the Detroit, Mich. area, are no longer serving halal McChicken sandwiches or chicken McNuggets. The company went on to say that it will focus on its national core menu.
According to Huffington Post, McDonald's did not say if the decision to stop serving halal food was related to the lawsuit, which was initiated by Ahmed Ahmed in 2011.
The lawsuit covered anyone who bought products that were advertised as being halal from September 2005 to _____________. Both restaurants are owned by two different people, and only one of the locations was named a defendant.
Attorney Kassem Dakhlallah's firm, Jaafar and Mahdi Law Group, sent a letter to McDonald's and Finley's Management, a restaurant franchisee. The letter said that Ahmed confirmed from a source who was familiar with inventory that the restaurant sold non-halal food on numerous occasions.
According to Time, some customers have expressed their disappointment, but others are glad that the restaurants will no longer offer an option that they say invited room for mistakes.
A local resident said that if a restaurant can't get it right every single time, then they are doing a disservice to the community.
