article imageMLB Scores - Blue Jays top Orioles 13-5 for 11th straight victory

By Larry Seely     Jun 23, 2013 in Sports
The Toronto Blue Jays jumped out to a quick start and cruised to an easy win over the Baltimore Orioles to win their 11th straight MLB game, tying a franchise record for consecutive wins.
Edwin Encarnacion hit a homer and drove in four runs in the 13-5 win on Sunday. Toronto scored nine runs in the first three innings and that allowed starting pitcher Josh Johnson to pitch with confidence.
The big right-handed pitcher picked up his first victory on the year, allowing four runs in six innings to improve to 1-2 on the year.
The offense stepped up with 14 hits, including seven for extra bases. With eight of the nine starters getting at least one hit, it made for a terrific all around performance from the entire team.
Toronto now hits the road with a three game series with AL East rival Tampa Bay on Monday. A victory over the Rays will set a franchise record with twelve straight wins and the team will send Esmil Rogers to the mound, looking for his fourth victory on the year.
Toronto improved to 38-36 on the year and after a slow start to the 2013 MLB season, this team is back in the race for a spot in the post season.
