article imageMLB Scores — Toronto Blue Jays extend win streak to 10 games

By Larry Seely     Jun 22, 2013 in Sports
Toronto - Toronto used a clutch two-run homer from outfielder Jose Bautista to defeat the Baltimore Orioles 4-2 and give the Blue Jays their tenth straight victory in early MLB action on Saturday.
With just four hits in the game, including a home run by Maicer Izturis, Toronto used strong pitching and the two timely long balls to improve their record to 37-36 on the year.
Bautista and Baltimore reliever Darren O'Day had words the night before when after a strike out left a runner in scoring position. That brief encounter seemed to fuel the Blue Jays outfielder as he had a few words to pass along as he rounded the bases with his big hit in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Starting pitcher Chien-Ming Wang pitched outstanding, allowing just one unearned run in 6.1 innings pitched, but reliever Darren Oliver picked up the victory to improve to 3-1 on the year. Closer Casey Janssen earned his 17th save for the season with a perfect ninth inning, including two strikeouts.
Toronto will look to continue the winning streak on Sunday against the Orioles when they have Josh Johnson take the mound. The big right-handed pitcher is 0-2 in the 2013 MLB season, but he is coming off a strong performance in his last outing where he allowed no runs and had 10 strikeouts against Colorado.
