article imageSony tells Gamestop to accept unlimited Playstation 4 pre-orders

The Sony Playstation 4 and the Microsoft Xbox One are both posting some ridiculous numbers when it comes to pre-orders. A memo was leaked by Gamestop that has Sony telling the video game retailer that they are authorized to take unlimited pre-orders.
In specific, the Japanese video game maker said that the "floodgates are open." The memo, coming from Gamestop corporate headquarters to its various chain locations made it clear there was no roof on the number of consoles it could pre-sell.
"Starting now, through this weekend and until further notice, Sony has allowed us to take unlimited pre-orders beyond your current allotments. In other words, the flood gates are open for PS4 system reserves, we will let you know when to stop pre-ordering based on limited quantities."
This appears to be the latest sign that Sony is currently winning the next generation console wars. Despite the fact that Microsoft has scaled back on some of its more controversial comments, customer interest has decidedly turned towards the PS4 since its E3 unveiling.
While Sony is looking to get as many consoles out to the market as soon as possible, Microsoft is reportedly having problems meeting demand. That alone could mean that the Playstation 4 has a better launch than its chief rival.
