article imageReview: Timely and Time Management for Teachers & Students

By Alyssa Sellors     Jun 21, 2013 in Technology
Teachers are required to juggle a number of tasks day to day. From keeping track of due dates and grading period deadlines to managing meetings and school events, it can get hectic.
Many teachers use a lesson planning book, various calendars, and planners to keep track of everything but what if everything was kept in one place, digitally?
Timely is a new event calendar with features to help you manage your time in an effective and innovative way. " creates website calendar software. As one of the world’s largest event indexes, is a widely used website calendar with over 50,000 websites currently running its software, creating almost 3 million upcoming events."
Technology in the classroom is more prevalent than ever so digital tools for teachers are essential if we want to adapt to this new 21st century classroom. Timely features two plans: the standard plan is free (geared toward schools, teams, or other groups) and the pro plan is $75 (geared toward communities, media, and companies). The ability to import and export data makes Timely great if you use different computers at work and home. Sync events and update information from any computer and it is all safely saved to one location. The visually appealing and easy to use interface makes this program accessible to almost anyone, including both teachers and students.
Beyond assisting teachers in the classroom, students are just as in need, if not more, of time management tools. Many students use the calendar on their smartphones but there is simply not enough room to record more than one or two events in a day. Planners are effective but very few students carry planners anymore. Timely presents events in a nonlinear fashion that is great for visual learners who might struggle trying to navigate a planner. Timely is great for students because not only does it organize and categorize events and tasks for you, it also connects with social media. The interface is totally customizable to students can make it theirs.
If you teach or have a child in school, this could be the answer when it comes to organization and time management. Timely is relatively new so there are still more features and updates to come, but consider trying it out for free to see if it can help you or your student with organization and time management.
