article imageNHL News and Rumors — Flyers Looking to deal for Jonathan Bernier

Philadelphia - The LA Kings made a good run at winning back to back NHL titles this season, but now that their year is over, the front office is looking to make some roster changes and backup goalie Jonathan Bernier is officially on the trading block.
Several teams from around the league could use a young and very talented goalie, but it appears that the Philadelphia Flyers are the front runners for the 24 year-old.
LA Kings starting net minder Jonathan Quick signed a ten year extension last year and that has made Bernier expendable. Many hockey experts predicted a move before the trade deadline this past season, but with no takers, a deal this off-season seems very likely.
CBS Sports has reported that Toronto and the NY Islanders could also have interest, but the Flyers seem to have the most pressing need as reports from Philly have the team looking to buyout starting goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov this summer, a move that would give the Flyers more room to work with under the salary cap.
Bernier has started just 59 game in his NHL career, but with 29 victories and a goals against average of 2.36, this would be a great move to help Philadelphia become one of the better teams in the Eastern Conference and a dark horse to contend for the Stanley Cup in 2014.
