article imageVideo: Photojournalist's unique capture of Brazilian protests

By Anne Sewell     Jun 18, 2013 in World
Rio De Janeiro - Michel de Souza is a Brazilian photojournalist. He has captured the protests in Rio over the last few days in a very unique and artistic way. His video is titled "In the Eye of the Hurricane."
Digital Journal reported yesterday on the violent crackdown by police on nationwide protests currently ongoing in Brazil.
For a couple of weeks now, Brazilians have been out in the streets protesting social, economic and political problems in the country.
Michel de Souza is based locally in Rio de Janeiro and has made his own unique report of the protests.
The results reflect his video footage, artistically combined with his still photography, and give very moving impressions of both the spirit of the protesters and the actions of police officers.

De Souza said in the description of his video, "During the protests this week in Rio I made a video record of my photos. The video scenes were taken just moments before each photograph was taken."
"I think it also tells the story of something that seems to be marking our country, a story I confess that moved me to the end."
