On Friday night, female super featherweight boxer Frida Wallberg, from Sweden, had to go in for surgery after suffering from a serious head injury in a 10-round world championship title fight against Diana Prazak, from Australia.
According to The Local, Wallberg was put into a medically induced coma, which she woke up from on Sunday.
According to Women Boxing, the fight was stopped in the eight round via TKO. Wallberg was placed on a stretcher after the fight and taken out of the ring, and had to undergo surgery for a severe brain hemorrhage.
According to Bloody Elbow, Wallberg's boyfriend said that it is likely that she would spend a few more days in the hospital.
Wallberg's boyfriend also posted an update, at her request, saying that she was ok and she didn't want anyone to worry about her.
