Cat running for mayor in Mexico?

By Saunon Malek     Jun 16, 2013 in Politics
Xalapa - Meet Morris, a candidate running as mayor in the Eastern Mexican city, Xalapa. But there's one exception; he's not a person, but a cat.
With more than 100K supporters on his Facebook page, Morris' campaign is appearing to be quite successful. The bedrock of his campaign, stated on the Facebook page, says, "Facing the quantity of rats that lurk in these posts, only a cat can bring order."
The feline's popularity has began to frustrate other corrupt politicians, who are signified to be rats in Morris' campaign. His candidacy has made local as well as international headlines, astonishing many with even the possibility of having a cat as a mayor.
But this is no mockery; Morris' name has been arranged to appear on the ballots of the July 7th elections.
His campaign is aimed at combatting the corruption that has been abundant in Xalapa's government, where corrupted figures viewed as rats, are to eventually be eliminated, by a cat, thus bringing order.
His campaign slogan? Ultimately, promising "nothing more than the rest of the candidates: to rest and frolic".
