article imageTiger Woods ends U.S. Open with his worst 4 hole score there ever

By Marcus Hondro     Jun 16, 2013 in Sports
Tiger Woods crawled to the finish line at the U.S. Open on Sunday, instead of winning his first major since 2008 carding his worst score over 4 holes ever at the U.S. Open. Woods finished with a 4 over on the final day to wind up with a 293 total.
The struggling Woods, who ended his last tournament in a tie for 65th, walked off the course tied for 32nd, leaving much of the rest of the field still out there. His plus13 in his 19th U.S. Open was also the worst score he's carded at the Open over 4 holes.
Woods' Saturday saw him sink to 7 bogeys on the day - it was his poorest 3rd round at a major ever - while his Sunday wasn't much better, 4 bogeys and a triple bogey. His 4 tournament wins in 2013 are beginning to seem a distant past.
He said he never felt comfortable on the course all week and just "couldn't get a feel" for his putts, and that alone took him from contention. "Some putts were slow, some were fast," he said. "And I had a tough time getting my speed right."
Tiger now must wait until the Open Championship at Muirfield in Scotland on July 18th to finally break his drought at the majors. Woods has won three Open Championship titles, two at St. Andrews in Scotland, but this will be only his second Open at Muirfield. In 2002 he ended tied for 28th in an Open Championship there that was won by Ernie Els.
