Michael Jackson's 'ghost' testifies in wrongful death trial

By Brett Wilkins     Jun 15, 2013 in Entertainment
Los Angeles - A supernatural 'witness' made a courtroom cameo in the Michael Jackson wrongful death civil trial as the CEO of a concert promoter accused of putting profit over the late superstar's failing health claimed Jackson's 'ghost' said his death was accidental.
The New York Post reports Randy Phillips, CEO of concert promoter AEG Live, testified in a Los Angeles court that Brenda Ritchie, Lionel Ritchie's ex-wife, told him that Jackson's ghost communicated through a supernatural medium that the King of Pop's death was accidental.
"Brenda called me to tell me that she was in communications with Michael either through a medium or directly," Phillips told jurors. "She said Michael told her that it wasn't Dr. Murray's fault, that he had accidentally killed himself."
Phillips was referring to Dr. Conrad Murray, Jackson's personal physician for the 2009 concert tour. Murray, who was paid $150,000 a month for his services, injected Jackson with the anesthetic propofol and administered other powerful and highly addictive pharmaceutical drugs to help him sleep. Dr. Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in November 2011 and sentenced to four years in the Los Angeles County Jail.
Jackson's family has filed a wrongful death civil lawsuit against AEG Live, alleging the company negligently hired Dr. Murray and that it knew Jackson was too sick to be on tour but did nothing to help him in order to protect millions of dollars in concert profits.
Brian Panish, an attorney representing Jackson's family, objected to the introduction of third-hand testimony from a 'ghost' as "triple hearsay." But Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos overruled the objection, allowing the otherworldly testimony to stand.
