article imageNelson Mandela 'recovering well'-grandson says

By Layne Weiss     Jun 15, 2013 in World
Pretoria - Nelson Mandela is in a Pretoria, South Africa hospital for an 8th day receiving treatment for a recurring lung infection. His grandson, Mandla Mandela, commented that the anti-apartheid leader "looked good" when he visited him.
"It gave us hope that he is going to recover soon," Mandla told The AFP at a funeral for Nelson Mandela's cousin, Florence Mandela.
The reverend leading the funeral service said a special prayer for Nelson Mandela.
"We would like to assure you of our prayers for the icon, the father of this nation," Reverend Wellington Manciya told the Mandela family.
In the 94-year-old's first few days in the hospital, his condition was said to be "serious, but stable." Everyone seemed to believe he was nearing the end of his life. As Madiba as he is also known, lay in his hospital bed, South Africans prayed for his recovery.
Mandela has been in intensive care since last Saturday with a recurring lung infection, BBC News reports.
His wife, Graca Machel, has been by his side regularly.
