Philadelphia - An inspector charged with the task of inspecting the building that collapsed in Philadelphia weeks before the tragedy has taken his own life.
According to the Huffington Post, the man's body was found in a truck late Wednesday night with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.
Deputy Mayor Everett Gillison stated that the man inspected the building on May 14. The building was under demolition when it collapsed onto a thrift shop on June 5, killing six people. The man working the machinery to demolish the structure was under the influence of marijuana at the time and has since been charged with six counts of involuntary manslaughter, 13 counts of recklessly endangering another person and one count of risking a catastrophe.
The name of the 52-year-old inspector, an employee of the Department of Licenses and Inspections, has not been released.
