By Larry Seely     Jun 12, 2013 in Travel
Las Vegas - Summer is here and with that family vacation time. With the economy still in limbo, looking for a great time that doesn't cost much is a terrific idea and Las Vegas is the place to visit.
Las Vegas has so much more to offer visitors than just gambling. The beautiful red rock desert has plenty of activities for everyone and a great spot for those looking to travel on a budget.
Did you know that Vegas is home to one of the few remaining chocolate production companies in America? Ethel M Chocolates are located just off the strip and offer self guided tours and a lovely botanical garden with several walking trails. Open everyday, but major holidays and free to the public, this is a great day trip for those in 'Sin City'.
With all the bright lights and great shows, people forget that this town also has some of the best food around. There are several places around town to grab a great meal and not put a big dent in the pocket. Longhorn casino is located on Boulder Highway, just across from Eastside Cannery and offers several meals for under $6.00.
Station Casinos also offer the breakfast buffet for $6.99 and if your a new guest, just register for a players card and receive some free cash to play on the slots. With a bit of luck, breakfast will be on the house.
Circus Circus is still a family favorite with its carnival like atmosphere, but for those looking for some free entertainment, every hour until midnight there are circus acts in the middle of the arcade with seats and smiles for everyone.
Looking to win some free money, just look around town, even off the strip as just about every casino will give you something for joining their rewards program. Several casinos give you cash to play the slots, while others give you big food discounts, free drinks, or merchandise. With a bit of research before you visit, guests of this famous desert town can get upwards of $200 in free play.
Of course not everything is free or cheap, but Las Vegas does give an entire family a chance to have a great vacation, packed with plenty of fun and excitement and all for a great price.
