article imageCatherine Wells-Burr — Killers sentenced

By Alexander Baron     Jun 10, 2013 in Crime
Bristol - Last week, three people were convicted of the murder of Catherine Wells-Burr. Today they were sentenced at Bristol Crown Court.
The convictions of Rafal Nowak, Anna Lagwinowicz and Tadevsz Dmytryszyn were reported here Saturday. This morning they were sentenced at Bristol Crown Court. A BBC correspondent was there and reported on the victim impact statement of Catherine's mother and on the sentence of all three.
The trial judge, Mrs Justice Sharp called the murder a grotesque and callous killing carried out purely for money but fueled by jealousy. Lagwinowicz was the former girlfriend of Nowak, who had a wife and child in their native Poland; Dmytryszyn is his uncle.
Although the actual murder was carried out by Nowak, in passing the mandatory life sentence, the judge gave each a tariff of 32 years saying they were equally culpable, equally to blame, and equally sentenced.
