New York - Setting out on a beautiful late spring evening, Slate magazine's commercial team hosted its 2nd annual Hudson River sailing event.
As client appreciation and entertainment events in the New York City digital media scene are concerned, the challenge for publishers often is found in the ability to offer a unique experience that appeals to a wide variety of interests in a setting that is sophisticated but not purposefully exclusive.
The Schooner America 2.0, operating out of New York City's Chelsea Piers offers a blended experience of luxury and availability. The elegant sunset sail can accommodate 75 people, and the nearly 2-hour experience - offered May through November - drifts past the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Battery Park, with ample opportunities for photography on the periphery of the newly-constructed Freedom Tower.
Slate magazine, the 16 year-old digital thought leadership concern operating within the Washington Post Company, hosted its 2nd annual Slate Sets Sail event on Wednesday night aboard the Schooner America 2.0. The event drew more than 65 guests and was organized by the commercial team to thank the marketers and the advertising agencies that are partnered with Slate.
Slate Sets Sail featured live Brazilian music, a fully catered cabin, and a stellar service crew - and the weather complied, delivering a gentle breeze out of the west and ample spring-temperate sunshine.
And, for those looking to extend the evening, the event concluded at the Lightship "Frying Pan."
