article imageRumors for the upcoming iPhone 5S reveals possible new features

By Milton Este     Jun 5, 2013 in Technology
It's no surprise to see Apple slowly losing its place in the market as Samsung unleashes their 5-inch Galaxy S4, HTC revealing its 'One' series, and Research In Motion struggling to stay in the game by offering up the revamped Blackberry Z10.
Since the release of the iPhone 5 in September 2012, Apple's stock price (AAPL) fell from almost a $700 high to a mere $445.41 almost one year later. Surprisingly, both Apple and Google have been taking a beating with an 18 percent and 19 percent fall respectively to Microsoft (MSFT) with its stock price rising 13 percent since 2013. Hopefully, Apple will make a recovery and boost market optimism with the upcoming iPhone.
While many go by this next release as the 'iPhone 5S', it is still unclear as to whether it will be a '5S' or will Apple jump to '6' As for the naming, we will leave it as '5S' for now. However, speaking of optimism, rumor has it that Apple is working on a new gold color option again. According to Apple Insider, Chinese website Weibo leaked images to several parts belonging to the new iPhone hinting at Apple is potentially focusing towards more color options. However, there will not be significant changes as the leaked layout shows the relatively same location for the volume rocker, SIM card placement, and mute switch compared to previous generations of the iPhone.
Moreover, it also looks like Apple may be packing! There are claims that Apple is working on a new Retina display to pack twice the number of pixels raising the total pixel count to almost 1.5 million pixels on a 640 x 1,136 resolution bringing the total to around 326 pixels per inch. As for the touch panel, China Times states the Taiwan supplier Innolux is working on on a 'Touch on Display' panel with a 10-point multi-touch and 0.5mm thickness. It also looks like Apple may be changing it up a bit by releasing two models with different sizes.
As for the camera, it seems TechRadar has the most accurate description describing Apple planning on beefing up its camera to 13MP and a larger flash on the back. This is primarily to follow the trend set forth by the Sony Xperia Z, which we have expected on the Galaxy S4, but did not happen.
Moving back a year earlier to the end of 2012, specifically November 10, which is when Apple filed a patent for Wireless Power Utilization serving as a wireless charging system using near-field magnetic resonance (NFMR). While wireless charging hasn't been popularized yet, it looks Apple is striving to become the innovator in such aspect of technology.
Finally, the official specifications are not out yet, but Apple is most likely working on a faster processor to equip with iOS 7 for a faster and more power efficient experience to the user. The release date is unknown but many speculate it will be during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
