Uniondale - On June 1, pop group 98 Degrees performed at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York, as part of “The Package” tour. They shared the stage with such groups as Boyz II Men and New Kids on the Block.
98 Degrees is made up of brothers Nick and Drew Lachey, founding member Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre.
They opened their set with the catchy “Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche).”
“Hello Long Island. How are you feeling tonight?” Drew asked the New York audience.
It was followed by their breakthrough single “Invisible Man” and “The Hardest Thing,” both of which showcased their soaring harmonies and Jeff’s falsetto.
“It’s hot as hell in here. Are you sweating as we are?” Drew asked the crowd.
“How about Boyz II Men? Are you ready to see New Kids on the Block? We get transported in time when we hear their songs,” Jeff shared about their fellow opening act.
“It’s steamy in here,” Nick noted.
98 Degrees played their older hits, as well as material from their latest CD “2.0.”
“It’s hotter than 98 degrees in here,” Jeff said. “Give it up one more time for our icons, Boyz II Men. It’s an honor to be here with New Kids on the Block and my guys, 98 Degrees,” he added.
“This is the part of the show where we help from you all for motivation and inspiration,” they said prior to singing the stunning ballad “My Everything,” which they dedicated to six female fans on stage as they personally sang to them.
“Keep the energy up. Let’s go,” Jeff said.
It was followed by a new song, “Can’t Get Enough,” and the wedding staple “I Do (Cherish You),” the latter of which featured clips from their song’s music video playing in the large screens.
“Let’s make some noise for the band that is killing it tonight that we are blessed to have,” Jeff said.
They continued with the upbeat “Impossible Things,” off their new CD, which ought to become a future single. “Thank you all so much,” said Nick.
“We are honored to be on an amazing tour like this and to have fans like you. It doesn’t get any better than this,” Justin remarked.
They brought their fans back to their days on MTV’s “Total Request Live” (TRL) with their smash hit “Because of You” and they closed their set with their current single, the upbeat “Microphone,” where they were able to get their fans on their feet and clap along with them.
“Thank you Long Island!” Nick exclaimed graciously. “We love you,” the remaining band members echoed.
The Verdict
Overall, 98 Degrees delivered for their Long Island fans at Nassau Coliseum. They put on a high energy show and their vocals and harmonies are still top notch. It is evident that Nick, Jeff, Drew and Justin were born to entertain and they pleased the audience, especially their female fans. They interacted well with the crowd and they were all dressed to impress.
According to Narisa Lee, a fan and attendee, she remarked, “The last time I saw 98 Degrees I was fifteen years old, and after seeing them again tonight, twelve years later, felt like nothing changed. 98 Degrees can still bring the house down. I had a blast!”
