article imageGrumpy Cat finally hits the big time with a Hollywood movie deal

By Anne Sewell     May 31, 2013 in Entertainment
Los Angeles - Having gone totally viral on the Internet, that famous cat with the permanent scowl finally has a reason to smile. But will she? Probably not, as according to her agent, she hates movies too.
Her real name is Tardar Sauce and she is a mixed breed cat, with a smile turned upside down. That little scowl has turned her into an Internet sensation, who is now heading for Hollywood.
Apparently what did it originally was her owner's brother, Bryan Bundesen, 34, posted a photo of the cranky cat on Reddit, and the rest is now history (in the making).
Tardar Sauce has reportedly racked up more than 10 million views on YouTube by now, which is what led to her recent star appearances on US television shows.
The cat's manager, Ben Lashes (yes, she has a manager!) told the Wall Street Journal that the movie would be produced by Broken Road Productions, the same company that was behind Adam Sandler's 2011 comedy, Jack and Jill. Terms of the one-picture deal were not, however, disclosed.
According to Lashes (whose legal name is Benjamin Clark), when told she was heading for Hollywood, the grumpy feline just looked bored. "She hates movies," he said.
34-year-old Lashes is an agent for Internet cats and apparently operates with this question in mind: "What would Walt Disney do if he created Mickey Mouse and it went viral on YouTube?"
