Rappers Ice-T and Chubb Rock never collaborated on any music together, but they have joined forces to launch a men's health foundation. It is called the Male Awareness Foundation.
According to AllHipHop, The Foundation was founded by Ice-T, Chubb, veteran music manager Mickey Benston, his wife Tanya, and Dr. Annie Ford.
It promotes men's health through cancer screenings for a variety of cancers that more commonly affect men including testicular, oral, prostate, and pancreatic among others.
"Help our communities achieve the highest attainable level of health through education, awareness, and prevention," said Mickey Benston. "A lot of issues can be addressed through early detection. Our mission is to encourage everyone to get screened on a regular basis.
The Male Awareness Foundation plans to start a mobile clinic that will stop throughout New England, Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, and expand nationwide.
Ice-T's documentary, Iceberg Slim: Portrait Of A Pimp, recently screened at the Montclair Film Festival in Montclair, New Jersey.
The rapper/actor is currently working on his heavy metal band Body Count's fifth studio album, Manslaughter. He stars as Det. Fin Tutuola on the NBC drama Law & Order: SVU.
In 2009, Chubb Rock released the album Bridging the Gap with Maryland rapper Wordsmith, HipHopDX reports.
