Croatia continues to attract some of the world's biggest names as the headline names for Discotheque Riva in Split are announced.
More details of one of the biggest parties on the Croatian coast were revealed on May 28, 2013, as the organisers of Discotheque Riva in Split announced their headline names for the two-day festival in the Dalmatian capital.
Posting on the official Facebook page, Discotheque Riva named Fatboy Slim and Underworld as the two headline acts for the festival, which will be held on August 8 and 9 on the Split waterfront with a backdrop of the 1700 year-old Diocletian's Palace, an event which is often described as the "biggest open-air discotheque in the world."
Discotheque Riva will take place shortly after another major festival in Split, as Ultra Europe will bring an expected 60,000 people into the Poljud Stadium on July 12/13, just one more new festival in Croatia, which led The Guardian to ask recently if Croatia was Europe's best festival destination.
With party tourism is on the rise on the Adriatic coast, so too is tourism in general, a trend which is expected to increase with EU entry on July 1. Split is booming, and a city which was once known as the gateway to the Dalmatian islands is becoming a major tourist destination in its own right. The city will be connected to more than 80 destinations via 43 airlines for the 2013 season, with many coming for the beaches, gastronomy, heritage and adventure sports.
