is held by the British Library, which also holds the world's oldest printed book, the Diamond Sūtra
. This illuminated manuscript
is even older, and can be dated fairly precisely to the early 8th Century. It is believed to be the work of the monk Eadfrith of Lindisfarne who died in 722AD.
Lindisfarne, also known as Holy Island, is located about 80 miles north of Durham off the coast of Northumberland.
