GoPro Hero camera lost at sea, found by spear-fisherman (video)

By Anne Sewell     May 28, 2013 in World
Kitesurfer Jens Knof lost his brand new GoPro Hero in the water while on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Two and a half months later, a spear-fisherman found it. All was intact, including the footage.
Digital Journal reported a while back on a story of a camera, lost in the ocean in Hawaii, turning up in Taiwan with all the photos still intact, allowing the person who found the camera to track down its owner.
Seems this isn't the only time this has happened. Two and a half months after Knof lost the GoPro Hero camera while kitesurfing at Kite Beach in the Dominican Republic, a spear-fisherman found it just hanging around at the bottom of a reef.
Luckily Knof had spread the word about the loss of the camera on Facebook, allowing him to be tracked down.
Knof was both relieved at retrieving his camera, but also amazed that the camera inside its waterproof housing was as good as new, and even had some great footage (shown above).
As the camera slowly descended to the bottom of the reef, it continued to film until the battery died, and then promptly turned off.
