article imageBaby dumped in toilet rescued from sewage pipe

By Lesley Lanir     May 28, 2013 in Crime
A baby boy just a few days old, dumped in a toilet, was rescued by firefighters who took him to hospital still stuck inside the connecting sewage pipe.
The Guardian reports that firefighters in Jinhua city, Zhejiang province in China, have rescued a newborn baby stuck in a sewage pipe.
Residents reported hearing the baby crying. Rescue services could not retrieve the baby from the sewage pipe in the apartment so had to cut through a section of the pipe with the baby still lodged inside. The rescuers then removed the pipe and took it to a nearby hospital where doctors carefully cut it open so as not to harm the newborn inside.
The baby is reported to be stable and has been named 'Baby No 59' from the number of his incubator.
Metro reports that police are trying to find the parents and "are treating the case as an attempted homicide."
