article imageOprah Winfrey plummets in Forbes list of 100 most powerful women

By Marcus Hondro     May 26, 2013 in World
The annual Forbes list of the the 100 most powerful women in the world saw Oprah Winfrey climb all the way up to 3rd spot in 2010. Since then it's been downhill for the former talk show host and modern day media mogul.
In the recently released 2013 list Oprah is still doing well, mind you, she finished 13th, but it's a far cry from the top five. In 2011 she was 14th and in 2012 Winfrey was 11th. Having dropped her daily talk show in 2011 has put her less in the limelight, and her Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) hasn't done as well as she was likely, she may never see the Top Ten again.
No matter, she was still the highest ranked woman to come out of the entertainment world - Beyonce was 17th - and Forbes recently had her in a tie for 503rd when they listed the planet's billionaires. That may seem well down the list but she managed that ranking thanks to a net worth of $2.8 billion.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel was on top of the most powerful women's list and Brazilian president, Dilma Rouseff was 2nd, with Melinda Gates 3rd. America's first lady, Michelle Obama was in fourth, one spot above the woman who could get Obama's husband's job in 2016, Hilary Clinton.
