By Marcus Hondro     May 22, 2013 in Crime
A man linked to dead Boston Bombing suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, has been shot and killed in Orlando, Fla., reports say. The Orlando Sentinel said that Ibragim Todashev was killed by an FBI agent. Todashev may have attacked the agent before he was shot.
Details of the connection to the Boston marathon bombing are not complete. Reporter for the Sentinel, Jerriann Sullivan, wrote that Todashev, also a Chechen, knew Tsarnaev, killed in a shoot-out with law enforcement agencies on April 19, because each were involved in mixed-martial arts. Todashev had lived for a time in Boston.
Deceased interviewed in FBI investigation
WESH-TV in Orlando reports that Todashev was being interviewed by the FBI this morning as part of their ongoing investigation into the Boston marathon bombing and that he had been cooperating. However, according to the station, for unknown reasons, Todashev is reported to have attacked an officer, who fired his weapon and killed him.
A friend of Todashev, Khusn Taramiv, told WESH-TV that he, too, had been interviewed by the FBI late Tuesday in Orlando in connection with the Boston marathon bombing investigation, but that they had finished talking with him. Taramiv said his friend was not connected to the bombings and had only briefly spoken with Tsarnev months before the bombings and that the two were not close friends.
"(The FBI) took me and my friend, the suspect that got killed," Taramiv told the TV station. "They were talking to us, both of us, right? And they said they need him for a little more, for a couple more hours, and I left, and they told me they’re going to bring him back.
"They never brought him back."
The 27-year-old Todashev was arrested on May 4 in Orange Country, Florida, by the Sheriff's office there, and charged with aggravated battery with great bodily harm. His friend said that Todashev was jumped by two others on that occasion and won the fight and was charged.
Postscript: Developing news indicates the man killed, Ibragim Todashev, had confessed during his interrogation to being part of a triple murder in Boston in September of 2011. FBI had been investigating that case to see if Tamerlan Tsarnaev was involved as one of the men killed was his former roommate. The FBI say that before his death Todashev confirmed Tsarnaev was part of the killings, saying it was a drug deal gone bad.
