article imageOprah Winfrey shows off her giant Hawaii farm in June O Magazine

By Marcus Hondro     May 18, 2013 in Entertainment
In the June issue of Oprah Winfrey's 'O Magazine', the media mogul allows cameras into her Maui, Hawaii farm. It is a huge spread and all about splendor - and producing results that help. The farm's 780 acres is largely given over to growing produce.
The piece that accompanies the photos notes that Hawaii imports 90 percent of its food from the mainland and that Oprah and her farm is about being part of changing that. Crops grown there include beets, turnips, radished, lettuce, Swiss chard, tomatoes and literally dozens and dozens of species of other fruits and vegetables.
Oprah Winfrey: working with Bob Greene
Her and wellness expert, and Winfrey close friend, Bob Greene, are featured in photos in the spread and 'O Magazine' has a contest going, the winner of which will win a trip to Hawaii and to the farm where, among other things, go on a hike there with Winfrey and Greene.
Tips on culltivating soil from Greene can be found here. There's no date given on when Oprah bought the farm but the piece in the magazine refers in the title to 'Oprah's New Farm'.
