In addition to taking on the Nobel committee (as noted by the
Scientist), Xu has announced that he is also suing one of the prize’s winners, Shinya Yamanaka, who was honored for his work on stem cells along with fellow scientist John Gurdon.
Xu is the founder of a regenerative medicine company called
MEBO. In his
law suit he is claiming that Yamanaka is guilty of slander of title, defamation, trade libel, unfair competition, and negligent interference with prospective economic advantage.
In a
press release Xu states that he came up with the research findings before the winning scientists.
The case is set to run for sometime.
