An animal shelter in Kansas City is caring for a puppy that authorities say managed to survive in a locked car for almost a month.
According to The Star, the puppy was locked in a car that was impounded and on a city lot.
The puppy, 12-weeks-old, and named Kia, survived the ordeal by eating trash that was left behind in the car. Kia, a mix of terrier and schnauzer, did not even have any access to water.
According to CBS, even though Kia was malnourished and dehydrated upon being found, she is expected to survive.
According to KSHB, an employee, at the tow lot where the car was being held, found the puppy.
As of now the puppy is not up for adoption, but at a later date she will be reevaluated for adoption.
