In February it was reported here that a young woman in London's East End had been the victim of an horrific acid attack. Naomi Oni
was actually attacked on December 30 last year, but the crime was not publicised for over a month. Before and after photographs of Miss Oni were published by the BBC
A young woman named Mary Konye has now been charged with this attack; another suspect, a man, has apparently been cleared of any involvement.
On Tuesday night, a young woman was subjected to a similar attack on her own doorstep. Tara Quigley
lives in Romford, which is less than five miles from Dagenham where the attack on Miss Oni took place.
The victim, who was attacked around 9.30pm, is said to have suffered serious facial burns. Her pet dog was also injured; the animal was blinded, and may have to be put down, which is what many people doubtless think should be the fate of the individual responsible.
To date, no one has been arrested, but the investigation of a crime of this nature is always a high priority for the police, rare though it may be.
