Damascus - Several rockets struck a popular neighbourhood in central Damascus according to Syrian activists, with the casualty rate unknown at this time.
The rockets struck the Bab Mesalla neighbourhood located in central Damascus.
The area contains several shops, restaurants, as well as a public transportation station linking Damascus with it's southern provinces.
The rocket attacks in the capital come amidst a rare public appearance by President Bashar al-Assad, who visited a power plant in the capital today marking May day.
