In the Flesh, the BBC-produced “zombie-rehabilitation” drama that stars Luke Newberry, will receive its North American television premiere later this month, it has been announced.
A three-part mini-series, In the Flesh – written by television, newcommer Dominic Mitchell – follows Newberry’s character, Kieren Walker, a zombie teenager who is integrated back into both the local community and the heart of his family, several years after a zombie uprising.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, In the Flesh will be broadcast on three consecutive Saturday nights, beginning 18 May, on Canada's Space channel.
Mitchell’s script was commissioned following his submission through the in-house BBC Writersroom scheme, Northern Voices. The mini-series is directed by Johnny Campbell, one of the directors of the BBC’s flagship science-fiction drama series, Doctor Who.
Last month, Digital Journal reported that the drama was to follow in the footsteps of Doctor Who, by joining BBC America’s Supernatural Saturday line-up in August.
A decision on whether or not a full second season is to be commissioned has yet to be announced.
