article imageInterview with Jon Pardi: 'Up All Night' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Apr 30, 2013 in Entertainment
On April 30, country singer and Capitol Records Nashville recording artist Jon Pardi chatted via telephone with Digital Journal. He opened up about his new radio single “Up All Night” and his plans for the future.
A native of Dixon, California, Jon noted that he was inspired musically by such country vocalists as Alan Jackson, Mark Chesnutt, Dwight Yoakam and George Strait, as well as The Rolling Stones.
Throughout his career in country, he has toured with such artists as Luke Bryan, Pat Green, Gary Allan, Eric Chuck and Zac Brown Band. “That was awesome and a lot of fun. I love sharing stages with artists like that. You just go out there and do the best that you can. The crowds were awesome for all of those shows and they were all cool guys,” he acknowledged.
This year, Jon was a part of Justin Moore’s “Outlaws Like Me” tour where he shared the stage with Broken Bow recording artist Dustin Lynch. “This was one of the best tours that I have ever been on in my career in Nashville. Justin Moore is such a great guy and we had so many good times. I have known Dustin Lynch for years now since we are on the same publishing company. It was a lot of fun. We were all sad when it ended since we didn’t want it to stop,” he said. “We were all friends, but we became even better friends after the tour was over.”
His single “Missin’ You Crazy” reached the Top 20 on country radio. “We are always touring and working so that song hits home to that. It’s about being on the road and getting off work and hanging out with your girl or your wife or your two crazy dogs,” he said with a laugh. “It was really cool for the single to reach the Top 20.”
Jon’s current single, “Up All Night,” is making its way up the Billboard Hot Country Airplay charts. “It’s about working and getting your girl and hanging out and staying up all night. It’s a good summer tune and it’s a lot of fun to play live. It’s great to see the crowd react to it.”
His upcoming debut album was co-produced by Bart Butler and Jon either wrote or co-wrote every song on the CD. “Bart is one of the first guys that I met when I moved into town. We hit it off writing and we really liked working in the studio together,” he said. “Hopefully, we will get to release the album in the late summer.”
On his plans for the future, Jon remarked, “I hope to hop on another tour and to play more shows and to sell more records. I hope to make more fans throughout America.”
Jon listed songstresses Kacey Musgraves and Patty Loveless as his dream female duet choices in country music. “Kacey is cool and her music is fresh. I would love to sing with Patty Loveless too since she is awesome,” he said.
He revealed that his proudest professional moment was playing on the iconic Grand Ole Opry stage.
