140 terrorist suspects arrested in Moscow

By Stephen Morgan     Apr 27, 2013 in World
Moscow - Russia's RT reports that 140 suspected terrorists have been arrested in a swoop yesterday, 30 of whom were foreign nationals
The rest of those detained, it says, came mostly from the same region of the North Caucasus, which was home to the Boston bombers. The LA Times says that they are all thought to be members of extremist Islamic organizations.
CNN quotes RAI Novosti as saying that the raid took place at “a place of worship,” called Dar Ul-Arkam in the south of Moscow and that the arrests were carried out by the FSB (successor to the KGB) along with police.
Outside the Middle East, Russia has the worst record of terrorist attacks than any other country. RT points out that in recent years there have been two bombings of metro stations in Moscow, a bomb attack on Moscow's Domodedovo airport, an attack on the Moscow-St Petersburg express train and the horrendous Beslan massacre, in which 1,100 people were taken hostage, including 777 children, and 380 died.
