article imageInterview with pop singer Chris Wallace: 'Keep Me Crazy' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Apr 25, 2013 in Entertainment
New York - On April 25, pop singer Chris Wallace sat down and chatted in-person with Digital Journal’s Markos Papadatos at a hotel in New York City. “I am excited to be in New York,” he acknowledged.
His radio single “Remember When (Push Rewind)” peaked in the Top 25 on the Billboard pop charts and its music video has garnered well over 1.8 million views on YouTube. “Wow. I remember when it passed one million views. That is just crazy and really intense,” he exclaimed. “I seriously love music and I am the kid from Indiana that never gave up. When people compare me to these things that are larger than life, it’s very surreal.”
Several of his fans and listeners have compared his vocals on “Remember When (Push Rewind)” to those of American Idol alum Adam Lambert and he has been dubbed by music critics as the male version of global pop phenom Katy Perry. “I am flattered since I love the way that he sings. To be compared to him is really awesome. I have never met Adam before but I hope to cross paths with him someday,” he said.
Chris revealed that his favorite tune from the new album is his current single “Keep Me Crazy” since its subject matter is personal to him. “It’s about my ex-girlfriend who I was dating at the time, but don’t call me Taylor Swift,” he said with a laugh. “It was one of those relationships that went back and forth all the time. We never knew what mood we were going to be in. We were like oil and water and everyday was a struggle and I could never figure it out. It was a lot of fun though and I wrote the song about our awesome times and our crazy time.”
He noted that his songwriting is inspired by everyday life. “When I meet different people and when I go to different places, I am just inspired. I never stop writing,” he said.
A former lead singer of The White Tie Affair, Chris noted that it is a different internal battle now recording as a solo artist. “It is a lot easier being a solo artist. There is definitely more pressure being solo, but every decision you make is yours and you get to bounce it off with your management. It’s better and worse at the same time,” he said.
Growing up, Chris was influenced by such artists as Queen, Prince, Fall Out Boy, as well as Panic at the Disco.
On April 26, he will be performing a headlining show at the Highline Ballroom in New York City. “It’s going to be a cool show. I am going to play a lot of covers, several original vocals and even a few White Tie Affair songs,” he remarked.
Regarding his plans for the future, Chris revealed that he will be filming a music video for his new single “Keep Me Crazy.” “I will be doing a lot of pop station summer shows,” he said.
Chris listed Carrie Underwood and Pink as his dream female duet choices.
