Bismarck - A.J. Clemente's first words on live TV as a new anchor with NBC affiliate KFYR-TV, Bismark, North Dakota were "f*****g s**t." He uttered the words before co-anchor Van Tieu introduced him to viewers as the "new weekend news anchor."
He tweeted afterwards:
Alright News Director and GM checking out my tape that we shot yesterday. Seeing if i am ready for anchoring... Awkward Turtle...
— A.J. Clemente (@ClementeAJ) April 21, 2013
That couldn’t have gone any worse!

However, Clemente's Twitter acccount suggests he had been rehearsing for his first remark on air. A cache of his tweets weeks before he appeared on KFYR-TV:

A reader on DeadSpin who had been going through Clemente's Twitter account comments:
strange... the one that said "got that n***y ticket!" has disappeared in the last two hours. just like the one where he made a comment about how he should do a story on the "posteriors" of bismarck women, and the one where he proudly sought the title of most jacked news anchor, but of course, a "no homo" for good measure.
but there's still several using the hasthtag #hmd ("hold my dick"), and others that say "leaving Sandusky county...that was close", "love waking up to a random in my phone", "dam white girl don't try n step then fall on Ur ass."

KFYR-TV News Director Monica Hannan posted an apology on Facebook:
To all of you who are writing in... I want to apologize for an incident that occurred prior to our early newscast this evening, when one of our employees used profanity on the air.
He did not realize his microphone was on, but still, that’s no excuse. WE train our reporters to always assume that any microphone is live at any time. Unfortunately, that was not enough in this case. WE can’t take back what was said. The person involved has been suspended until we resolve the situation. All we can do at this point is ask for your forgiveness, and I can offer my personal assurance that I will do my best to ensure that nothing like this ever happens again under my watch.
